Insig AI and Falcon Windsor are proud to publish our research report and recommendations on the use of generative AI in the creation and preparation of corporate reporting. The report is the first in-depth look at how generative AI is actually being used in corporate reporting, and what’s at stake if it isn’t properly managed. The report draws on multiple sources, including qualitative insights from 40 companies (including 20 FTSE 100s), and a rigorous analysis of 21,000+ corporate documents published by FTSE 350 companies. The report highlights the opportunities and risks introduced by gen AI, from streamlining processes and enabling faster insights, to concerns around truth and accountability, which are the bedrock of corporate reporting.  The report also proposes a guiding principle for the responsible use of gen AI in reporting, along with set of practical recommendations to help companies reap the benefits and mitigate the risks of its introduction. The research team would like to thank John Elkington, Founding Partner and Executive Chairman of Volans and world authority on corporate responsibility and sustainable capitalism, for writing the foreword to this 'timely, useful contribution to a critically important debate'.

“Amid the hype around gen AI, we need to take a pragmatic approach to adopting it in business, and I hope these focused recommendations help put that into practice. It’s also clear that exploring AI’s role in reporting reflects broader questions around how to handle this technology, so that we harness its power without compromising trust.” Diana Rose, Head of ESG Solutions, Insig AI

“I’m keen to try anything that will help companies report better, and, used well to support the purpose of reporting, generative AI could certainly do great things. But, if people use it unthinkingly, without proper training or guidelines, it could fatally undermine the accuracy and truthfulness of reporting. I hope our research and recommendations will prompt the necessary debate!”Claire Bodanis, Founder and Director, Falcon Windsor
